I built and installed XFree86 4.3.0 on an IBM Thinkpad T21 with German keyboard running Linux kernel 2.4.19 SuSE 7.3. My old XFree release was 4.2.1. After the install I could not use the key for chars '<>|' (smaller, larger, pipe). After I re-installed the old /etc/X11/xkb files this problem vanished.
I do not know of any possible problems due to this approach. Also, where and how would I have to change the original 4.3.0 xkb files do achieve the same result ?
