no, no. you have to use the XMail machine as SMTP relay server. You do not
have to let PHP to find the MX and connect

I use NullWebmail over here. It's simple compiled, installed ran
here no problems. However doesn't have an address book or sent mail,
trash folders etc..
We're also experimenting with PHP-Projekt which is a groupware/Intranet
solution (GPL), which has Webmail a whole lot more if you want

The tool uses POP3 to connect to Xmail by smtp, so it is not
necessary to install an imap-server.

I've found success with xmail and antivir by using Peter's
filter scripts. You can download the script here:

Now, one thing.
Within the checkvirus.pl file, locate the line:

We've decided to go with Netwinsite's WebMAIL program. It,
too, is a commerical product but they offer a free trial
version.
