What I need- TinyX for CS (Chips Technology) Video (69030) in order to get a a PXELINUX.2 RPL (NetworkBoot) file into a 64M Ramdisk. - I have enough space to accomodate a 40M TinyX

I am having problems compiling Kdrives (fbdev). I can do a full compile just fine (no /xc/config/host.dev)I am using RH Linux 7.0 and XFree 4.2.0
To compile "fbdev" / Kdrive, I have tried a special /xc/config/host.dev as below, but get a full compile ?

I am using RH 7.0 and installed XFree86 4.2.0 over top of XFree 4.01.My inittab uses run level 5My system boots up to the Gnome logon panel and then boots into XSM (The X Session Manager).
1. How do I get it to boot into Gnome ?2. Can I start Gnome from XSM ?3. How can I install XFree4.2.0to
1. Does XFree86 4.2.1 work on RH linux 7.0 ?
2. How do I configure FBDev to use the chips and technology 69030 chip ?

I don't know how to reduce X to less than 12M but I am extremely curious how you got down to 12M in the first place ? Did you use trial and error ? Kdrives ? What ?Did you wittle down XFree86 4.2.0 down to 12 M ? What version of Linux are you using?

I have tried unsuccessfully to compile a small X using the Keith Packard KDRIVES.
I made a shadow directory as per built instructions but:
- Don't know where the built system was put on my drive - Don't know how to create a KDRIVE that uses the CT 69030 chip - Don't know if / how a
Re - Kdrive built: I followed the instructions as per "build.txt" at: \Xfree\4.2.0\doc

KDRIVE: Do you have an example of the /xc/config/cf/host.def fileneeded for KDRIVE ?Host.def: I noticed, that by dedault, there is no is no"host.def" defined when xfree 4.2.0 is recompiled ?
+ Is that ok for recompiling XFREE 4.2.0 ? + Is it true that for KDRIVE

Having compiled my KDRIVE = Xchips (Using XFree 4.2.0)==- How do I replace X with my KDRIVE Xchipsin an RH Linux 7.0 environment ? - What otherfiles / libraries are needed
Thanks for your help. I did the Following:
1. copied my KDRIVE "XChips" into /usr/X11R6/bin2. changed the symlink "X" to point to "XChips" instead of "XFree86"3. Rebooted
Now I get the message:=According to /var/run GDM.id, GDM was already running (769) but seems to have been
RH Linux 8.0 - Chips 69030 - Cursor and and keys freeze
On a new install, the pc will boot and the cursor and KBD freezes almost immediately. The same hardware and setting worked fine under RH 7.0 (XFree 4.01) 7.3 (XFree 4.2.0).
Any idea what the problem might be ?

I have looked at http://store.suse.com for the solution to the 69030 problem as you suggested - did not find anything there - can you be more specific where the solution can be found ?

Fixed: Adding "SWcursor" to the XF86Config device section did the trick

I had the same problem using a CT 69030 video card. The problem was resolved using the Line:
Option "SWCursor"
in the section below of the /etc/X11/XF86Config file.You might try adding the line to yours.
Section "Device" # no known options Identifier
