But I wonder if there are any other users lurking on here that may have something. One minor annoyance I find with web page import is the inability to edit out content like annoying ads. Yojimbo will store the object, code, etc, and when you view it, you get a nice flashy ad (I wonder if the code is being executed to pull in new content into that space, too). I use Firefox along with adblock, but this has no effect on the Archive in Yojimbo script. I wonder if anyone has a solution to that. Instead of saving a web page, what if you printed to PDF from your adblocked browser? I personally use the print this article exporting a PDF directly into Yojimbo for similar purposes. I tried this out - it works, removes the blocked items (ads, etc) but is in low resolution for some reason - perhaps that's an internal PDF setting. Re: Replicating Yojimbo, importing/exporting, etc.
Forrest Aldrich [EMAIL PROTECTED] sez: A curious side note here is privacy. I wrote to Apple asking them if, in any way, they index or access our personal data and share those results with any other process. They never responded (I tried a couple of times). Afraid I can't offer any special insight, though I would expect this to be covered by the .Mac terms of service and/or Apple's privacy policy. So I could selectively encrypt my data within Yojimbo and have it protected that way. That's correct; any items you encrypt will be protected in transit and while stored on the .Mac servers (as well as on your Mac(s)). For that matter, how complex (or simple) is the encryption in Yojimbo (including any backdoors). ;-) Yojimbo uses AES-256, which is a strong, system-provided encryption mechanism, to protect item content, and there are no backdoors nor reset mechanisms. So, if your dog eats the PostIt that has your Yojimbo password, we're sorry but we won't be able to help... :-) Regards, Patrick Woolsey == Bare Bones Software, Inc.http://www.barebones.com P.O. Re: Replicating Yojimbo, importing/exporting, etc.
Forrest Aldrich [EMAIL PROTECTED] sez: I'm interested in replicating my Yojimbo database so I can use it elsewhere (ie: at work). I'm aware that it has .mac capability, but I wonder if that's simply a sync of files to the iDisk (copying), and how would you resolve differences if, say, you do writes in one location and not the other? Depending on how that works, I wonder if it would be possible to bypass .mac dependency and set up something like rsync or unison to replicate via SSH to an external location. It is not; please see: http://faq.barebones.com/do_getanswer.php?record_id=135 Regards, Patrick Woolsey == Bare Bones Software, Inc.http://www.barebones.com P.O.
