http://www.newkerala.com/news.php?action=fullnews&id=15306 3-day National methodology workshop on Dalits' begins Nagpur: The three-day National Methodology Workshop on 'Congregational empowerment for Dalit liberation' began here today. The event was formally inaugurated by National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) general secretary Bishop D K Sahu. Nearly 150 delegates from all over the country are participating in the workshop which would discuss various subjects concerning the growing woes of dalits and recommend as to how best to ensure the liberation of the oppressed in the country. The workshop has been organised jointly by NCCI in Cooperation with the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in India (UELCI), The Church of North India (CNI) The Church of Sourch India (CSI) and the Integrated Rural Development of weaker sections in India (IRDWSI). On the occasion, Bishop Sahu said oppression and discrimination of the dalits continued affecting access to education, mobility and employment. He appealed to the dalits to raise their voice of protest and resistance in the light of such a precarious situation. Dalits should be empowered to get themselves organised in their struggle and liberated from socio-cultural oppression, he added.
