And another great one!
Just have a look at package.use/mkvtoolnix and you will see your problem.
# echo "qt5" >> /etc/portage/package.use/testuse
# emerge @preserved-rebuild
--- Invalid atom in /etc/portage/package.use/testuse: qt5
If it isn't obvious:

Dale,
When I check
Hi
this command:
emerge --selective=n @preserved-rebuild
gives me this message when started:
--- Invalid atom in /etc/portage/package.use/mkvtoolnix: qt5
and eix said this:

Howdy,
If you run into a error like this for mkvtoolnix-15.0.0-r1:

That's not an atom, it's a USE flag. The forma

That fixed it. I had eudev in there already. I had to because when it
first came out, they were all keyworded. I didn't have the other two in
there tho. I just wonder, why didn't portage figure that out? Oh well.
Now I'm only

roblem
is that you have too many, or the wrong ones.
Solution: Remove ALL dev-managers from world and add only eudev back in.
Be specific, for a /dev manager, you do NOT want portage to install what
it thinks might be best. Let portage fix itself with -uND world

you need to recompile with -std=c++11/-std=gnu++11).
That's because I "default" by now to c++11 (and the extra CXXSTD var
is due to me starting to switch that (back and forth) before realising
the below).
$ grep CXX /etc/portage/make.conf
CXXSTD=" -std=c++11"
CXXFLAGS=&qu
recall putting that there but I must have and I bet
there was a reason for it, at that time. I have this set to NOT add to
world file unless I use the --select y option. So, it was intentionally
put there. I commented it out and tried again, still fails and updates
nothing else.

I like this idea, I think it could be especially useful in the context
of PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET.

I updated my PC today, and there was a lot of KDE-related packages being
updated.
As part of my usual update procedure I depclean'ed and ran
revdep-rebuild.sh - and it wants to rebuild every single package on my
system? Surely that has to be some kind of mistake?
Anyone have any insight?
