Hello,
The question is in the subject, I've been planning to run James in
production, and wonder if updating Java Mail in James to the latest 1.4.1
version is fine. James currently has 1.4 -- that is in the official James
package. If there's danger (subtle regressions, for example), I won't do it,
but I need people's assurance that using the currently released version of
James is fine in a production setting.
I have a slighly modified version derived from James v2.3.1 and I
upgraded it to use javamail 1.4.1 with no issue.
I am also interested in updating other components, but I thought I'd first
ask about one of the most primary one. Finally, I am wondering if there's
any plan to release an official update to James, containing such component
updates.
Here is the roadmap to 2.3.2.

As you can see there are no open issues so a 2.3.2 release should not be
too far, but we need someone to take care of the release process (and
currently JAMES people seems to be busy elsewhere).
Stefano
