All of the remaining 22 international observers with the International Federation for East Timor Observer Project (IFET-OP) are fleeing East Timor. They are waiting for a police escort to the airport, but all roads are blocked and the gunfire is getting closer to their house. According to anxious phone discussions with IFET-OP observers in Dili, UNAMET has confirmed that the International Red Cross office has been completely destroyed by militia groups.
