My procedure is to draw off the heavily chlorinated tap water in pails and let sit for 12 to 24 Hrs to let the chlorine work out;which it does. These times depend on the ambient temps., the warmer it is,the shorter the time.Anybody who has ever had a swimming pool knows how it requires pH testing,and subsequent treating with pool chemicals.
