Melly -- Dan made a very important point -- that the generator that you have is non-current regulated. So you'll need to do more than move the electrodes, bend the ends and change the gauge of the wire -- you'll also need to monitor your product as it's brewing. I'm not familiar with the timer provided by Utopia -- but if you're getting cloudy results, then the timer isn't working for you. Do you by chance have a Hanna tester? Using one of these would give you an idea of what ppm-level you're getting as you move forward in the brewing process. Once you find out about how long it takes to get to the ppm-level that you're targeting, then you can set your timer to that amount of time. I don't know why you weren't having problems like this before -- have you changed brands of distilled water? Did you move your generator so that it's sitting in a warmer area? Did you pre-heat the distilled water before brewing? All of these things can change the speed at which the brewing process takes place.
I'm no expert on this -- for that reason I have a generator that is automatic. That means that it turns itself off when the ppm-level that I want has been achieved. I always get crystal-clear CS in the range of 10 ppms. Ode sells a unit like this (Silverpuppy), and www.wishgranted.com sells one as well. You might consider getting one of them, and using your Utopia unit as a back-up. FWIW. Ok, i will keep my electrodes further, bend the ends also. I have also cut a new wire to make it longer. I have a timer already set by Utopia. I will try again. I did not have this problems before. Would the thickness/gauge of the wire make a difference? I am using a gauge 10 now, pretty thick. The new cut wire is gauge 14. Thanks for your assistance.
