Now tell me A. Reid Harvey, was this really an acquaintance, or was it a drug dealer or hooker? I'd be happy to help you out with a 'soft' loan, but I don't know what that is, and since all I have is 'hard' cash, I don't think I can help. But you know, Americans are in high demand in foreign countries, and I'm sure that you could 'earn' quite a bit of money there by performing 'personal services' for the local businessmen.
