Greetings Silver List members, one and all! I often get feedback from people who never post to the list, and sometimes only after they decide to leave. Two recent examples:
> Subject: unsubscribe > > Sorry 'bout that, too much email. Just to let y'all know it saved my > life. Thank God for CS. good health! It'd be nice to know just what it saved their life *from!* <sigh> > Dear Mr. Devour, > > Thank you for the education. I wish i could hang, but this list is a > tad bit cluttered and i cant keep up. Please unsubscribe me; and i > wish you well in the future. Yup. We generated *five* digests yesterday, for a total of 200 kilobytes of messages in about 45 messages. Today it's back down to only 3 digests, but still some 40 messages. Please continue to restrain yourselves on the off topic stuff as much as possible, and use the OT list freely. It is also *very good* to get in the habit of holding back your replies until you are caught up with the entire list, or at least the relevant thread. You'll often find somebody else has already said what you wanted to so you don't need to. Lastly, I've noticed an unusual number of duplicate posts and messages with *blank* Subject lines. Bob Smith, Heather, and Trem have all sent subject-less messages in the last couple of days. What's up with that, folks? Just a fumble, or is it a technical problem somewhere? Apart from these gripes, I observe that some interesting and informative subjects are being treated, with a decent amount of it being on-topic, while general behavior is holding up well. For this I give y'all an "attaboy!" Thanks all.
