Yes, I've seen that on certain CentOS installations.  I suspect it's
been those with multi-core CPUs.

For reference, these commands will switch an EDE from OpenJDK to Sun
JVM.

   sudo yum -y install java-1.6.0-sun java-1.6.0-sun-devel
   sudo /usr/sbin/alternatives --set javac
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun/bin/javac
