installing the initscript enabled is how i should do it for debian, but
i can just make that a debian patch.

personally, i think i'd prefer to not have the initscript executed on
bootup, because it adds noise to the boot process.  but, i guess the
point is, that as a sysadmin i can manage the runlevel symlinks myself.
since these links aren't managed as packaged files, users are free to change
things.
