Thus spake Bernard Li ([EMAIL PROTECTED]):
Been talking with Matt Jamison about package dependency issues with the
initrd_template package.

Now that I've put more thought into it, I think this package needs to be
architecture dependent

I disagree.

, since you can only run si_prepareclient on the
architecture you're on.

This is true. However, when we do get si_mkbootpackage updated to work
with UYOK code, it may be run on a server, to build a boot package for a
machine of a different architecture.

Furthermore, I think that the
systemimager-client package needs to be dependent on the
<arch>initrd_template package since si_prepareclient won't run without
it.

I do agree that systemimager-client should be dependent on
an initrd_template that is appropriate for the architecture in question.

But, I realize it may be difficult, if not impossible, to impart these
relationships on the (rpm at least) packaging system.

So, let me cook on this. Hopefully I'll send a fresh thread to the list
with a simplified packaging scheme that we can discuss.

Makes sense?

Cheers,

Bernard
