Dear all: For the last little while, I have been working on porting SystemImager on the Sony Playstation 3 and earlier in the week I checked in all my changes into trunk. I just tested revision r4100 and it works fine with my setup which consists of a Macbook image server running VMWare Fusion + Fedora Core 6 x86 and an actual Sony Playstation 3 as the client. The image I deployed was Yellow Dog Linux 5.0 ppc64.
I guess the tricky part to this exercise was getting SystemImager to work with kboot. I have added a HOWTO in the SystemImager wiki and I encourage you to try it out (if you have one or more Sony Playstation 3s): http://wiki.systemimager.org/index.php/HOWTO_image_Sony_Playstation_3_using_SystemImager The documentation is still work in progress, so if you run into any issues, please feel free to let me know. But I can confirm that it is working :-) For those of you who will be at LinuxWorld San Francisco next week, there is a Linux on PS3 BoF on Wednesday (8th August, 2007): http://linuxworldexpo.com/live/12/events/12SFO07A/conference/tracksessions//QMONYB001HXE I will be giving a brief talk on my work -- who knows, there might even be a demo! If you are local, you should take advantage of the free exhibit hall pass and swing by: http://linuxworldexpo.com/live/12/ I look forward to discussions on this topic within the community! Special thanks to Andrew Lumsdaine and DongInn Kim from Indiana University for making it possible for me to do this work!
