[Debian sarge/testing;  kernel-2.6.8-1; systemimager-server-3.2.3-4, ...]

OK, I was able to create a 'grub' boot disk and install
'grub' on my copied system.  It now boots, shows me the 'grub' menu,
but then stops with the following line on the screen:

    Unable to open an initial console

Booting from another kernel produces a 

    Cannot create /dev/null

error message followed by a kernel "panic".


Can anyone help?
