I should have also mentioned what makes this bug particularly nasty is that if doesn't cause SI to fail! Rather the machine simply reboots and continues along it's merry way so unless you're watching closely you don't even realize it happed!

Hey Mark:

Can you change the setting such that after you use SystemImager to
deploy your node, it doesn't reboot?
actually what I've been doing is inserting an exit in my installation script right before systemconfigurator gets run so I can sneak in and look around, then run it manually.

In that case you can get a console on the node. Post the contents of
/boot/grub/device.map of the node. This should be somewhere in /a.
this is my 'standard' device map that I use on all the different images I deploy and it works just fine. however, I do use a patched set of scripts to handle cciss devices and prevent grub-install from doing a 'recheck' because grub itself can't handle cciss, at least 0.93 can't. Here's the device map right out the image:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] conf]# cat /var/lib/systemimager/images/wild/boot/grub/device.map
# this device map was generated by anaconda
(fd0) /dev/fd0
(hd0) /dev/cciss/c0d0

I may have a patch for SystemConfigurator that may work for you.

P.S. Which version of SystemConfigurator are you using?

I'm using 3.2.3

Now that I've answered your questions, here's some more data - the bottom line is I got it working but am not happy.

When systemconfigurator runs, it generates the error "the file /boot/grub/stage1 nor read correctly" which has had me off on a wild goose chase for 3 days trying to figure out why it's doing that. I even tried upgrading to SI 3.4.1 and that didn't help. I downgraded back to 3.2.0 and that didn't help either. I went through a lot of permutations and am now back to 3.2.3 which feels a lot more comfortable since that's the version I've done most of my patching against. btw - version 3.4.1 alleges to work correctly with cciss devices, but when I manually run systemconfigurator it again fails to successfully execute the df command because /etc/mtab is still empty, but that was a lot of days ago and I don't remember all the details.

So, I continue to get these errors from systemconfigurator but the system does seem to reboot correctly and that's where I current stand on all this... sorry for rambling but I just got things going and am kind if dizzy...
