btw - version 3.4.1 alleges to work correctly with cciss devices, but=20
when I manually run systemconfigurator it again fails to successfully=20
execute the df command because /etc/mtab is still empty, but=20
that was a=20
lot of days ago and I don't remember all the details.
I have a hack for that - basically if you sync /etc/mtab with
/proc/mounts, it works. Look under /usr/lib/systemconfig/Boot/Grub.pm
and modify between line 230 and 231 and add:
system("cp /proc/mounts /etc/mtab");
That should do the trick - let me know how it goes.
My problem is that I've been working on this 'problem' for over a yeat.
Way back I had discovered/reported bugs in grub and systemconfigurtor
including things like:
- not properly populating device.map
- not filling in /etc/mtab
- not recognizing cciss devices in the Label.pm
- and maybe one two others
I have since learned that many of these have been fixed in a combination
of work in grub 0.95 and the latest systemimager. however, when I tried
these out with RHEL4, it didn't all work as expected so I reverted back
to SI 3.2.3, applied my patches, replaced grub on RHEL4 and now
everything works except for that pesky 'file not read correctly' message
from grub. I do plan on trying to replace my imaging environment with
the latest but I need some 'quiet' time for a few weeks first,
If I ever get it all working together, I'll let people know what I find.
btw - my goal in all this is to be able to use SI out-of-the-box, apply
a few patches (as overrides) and not to any post imaging modifications.
