Alternatively, you can try the unstable version of SystemImager, 3.5.3, which has better support for SATA hardware.

Unless you get a kernel from somobody else already prepared with that
driver, building a custom kernel is the only option Im afraid.

I have the same problem too, with qlogic 23xxx drivers.
