Hi folks. OK, I got a little farther-- found out that the
"console=ttyS0" line in the elilo.conf file needs to be changed to
"console=ttyS3" for 2.6 kernels and network booting. Found this buried
in some HP forum somewhere.
ANYWAY, after a bit more progress, I am now yet another person having
the infamous "cannot stat /dev/sda" error. As I have learned, it
appears that the boel binary just isn't loading the mptscsi and/or
mptscsih drivers. How annoying.
BUT-- this shouldn't be an issue, because we have this cool UYOK
stuff, right? Just copy the files created in the si_prepareclient
process to the /tftpboot directory environment on the boot server.
This has huge potential to solve all these stupid driver problems...
Um, no.
When I try that, I get:
TFTP.
ELILO boot: elilo.c(line 77):Cannot find a loader for
ia64/standard/kernel
Could this have anything to do with the "I can't determine your kernel"
message I get when running si_prepareclient? In that case, I'm
supposed to use "-kernel= filename" but I have no idea WHAT filename I'm
supposed to supply there???
I also went the other direction, and tried adding "insmod" commands into
the INSMOD_COMMANDS file in the "my_modules" directory (client) to get
the boel binaries to load the drivers. Dead end there too, as I get
stuck (and hung) here:

<== hangs here--- no progress.
So, I guess what I'm looking for is a followup to the previous
discussion a week or so ago--- regarding UYOK-and just what people are
supposed to put for the "-kernel=" parameter for si_prepareclient?
That question was raised before, and I can't seem to find it ever
answered. This is my apparent last hope- as nothing I have tried so
far lets me mount my disks. Boo!
