are you using auto-fs? that may be causing your confusion. they're not mounted when you run "df" but when you run "ls" the partition gets mounted.

I doubt I can pin it down consistently. Basically I rebooted the host and df displays things correctly afterwards... not strictly reproducible, but it does bring up the point that a more reliable method to detect mounted nfs partitions may be necessary.
