Hello,

I am experiencing some bad trouble with getting clients to boot after
installation. All these machines are using RHEL4. I have the image up
and running and properly configured. I have the golden client setup and
configured. I have uploaded the golden client's image to the image
server. I have my first test client able to netboot, get the correct
IP address and install the image. Looking at the messages that scroll
by on the screen, it looks like the LVM VGs and LVs are properly created
and the file systems are also made properly. However, once the install
finishes and I reboot the client, I get this:

Loading dm-mod.ko module
device-mapper: 4.0.5-ioctl (2005-10-04) initizlized: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Loading jbd.ko module
Loading ext3.ko module
Loading dm-mirror.ko module
Loading dm-zero.ko module
Loading dm-snapshot.ko module

Now, I haven't a clue why this happens. I spent the better part of a
day doing Google searches and tried different things (the one which
appeared to be the most relevant came from a Gentoo page which
recommended editing /etc/lvm/lvm.conf to only allow scanning of
/dev/sd[ab] to prevent the cdrom device from fouling up the LVM scan on
systems with SATA or SCSI (all of my systems are SCSI).

The golden client is installed with the x86 version of RedHat Enterprise
Linux Workstation 4, with only stock packages that come on the
distribution CDs, plus OpenOffice.org 2.3 from the OpenOffice.org
website. The disk partition scheme is the automatically configured
scheme from disk druid during the system installation. I don't think
that I have done anything strange with this system.

If anyone could provide a pointer to a solution, I would appreciate it.
I guess as a last resort I can reinstall without LVM, however, I am not
particularly fond of the idea of wiping my golden client and starting
over.

Regards,

-Roberto
