Bryan,

this behavior is by design. The filter works across all fields. I find this
very useful, because you don't always want to sort and filter by the same
column. For example: I usually want to sort by hostname or ip, but I want to
filter by status (e.g. error). Of course you can often make the query more
clear, by filtering for ":92" for example.

The best idea I have to make us both happy would be to extent the search
syntax. So that you can put expressions like "status:%" in there (or maybe
even ranges, etc.), but frankly I'm too lazy to add this feature at the
moment.

However the si_monitor.html is now part of the official si trunk, so if you
want to add this or other features yourself feel free to send patches to
this list or directly to me. If you need any help understanding my code and
adding your own, I'll be happy to assist.

Thanks,
Thomas Krause

Thomas,

I love it....only thing I can note...it seems like the filter is not
isolated to the current sorted by column. For instance...on your small set
if I sort by Status and then put "%" in the filter it still shows all hosts
as there is a "%" in the "% Used" solumn on all lines. Or just to try and
make this clear....if I select "MAC" colum to sort by and put "92" in the
filter field then I get both Test7 and Test5. I get Test7 like it should
but I also get Test5. I believe it is being picked up due to the 92% in the
"% Used" colum

  Does this make senses...

Please don't take this as criticism...I think that what you are making here
is GREAT!

Bryan,

please take a look at the new version of the si_monitor page. I think you'll
like it.

I've added sorting for columns and a real time filter box.

Small sample (10 clients):
http://www.programmers-source.com/si_monitor.html

Big sample (1000 clients):
http://www.programmers-source.com/si/si_monitor.html

Notice the smart sorting, which correctly handles dates, different units
(Giga, Mega) and even ip addresses. The only thing not sorting perfectly are
hostnames at the moment (client10 < client2). I'll see if I can fix that.

Thomas,

I really like this status page...I have had to hack in some code to allow
the following in the TK setup..and would love to see something like this in
a web page...

First..the ability to sort by clicking on the column headers. This helps
when you are just looking for a group of machines.

Second..the ability to limit those in a display to a keyword...for
instance, in the keywork field I type "beep" and then sort off of "status"
then it only displays those machines that are in the stat beeping. OR if I
type "grid" in the keyword field then sort off of the hostname it only shows
me those machines with the wird "grid" within their hostname.

Please feel free to let me know if this is a rediculous request...but I have
had to add this into my si_monitortk script in order to be able to
effectivly use it with 100's of machines.

Thanks again as I love the look of your status page.

Bryan

Can you seed if this works for you?
http://www.programmers-source.com/si/si_monitor.html

On my pc this works very smoothly.

Also: did you test the html over a web server or locally?

OK, first feature request: is it possible to split the clients' view in
multiple pages? something like (for example) max 50 clients per page with
next/prev buttons to navigate through the clients list.

I tried with 1000 nodes and it seems to totally freeze firefox. :-)
