That's not nearly as amazing as UPS.  A glider left Phoenix yesterday bound for Washington State.  It arrived in Louisville this morning.  They claim it will reach its destination tomorrow.  I wonder if that's its intended destination or just wherever it winds up?

Try sending an overnight package sent via FedEx to several states away, without it going thru Memphis.

It's because FedEx uses Memphis as a hub for just about everything that goes overnight by air, and probably 2nd Day Air as well. Planes from all across the country fly in at night to deliver the packages,  they all get sorted, loaded onto the appropriate planes, and within hours of arrival in Memphis all flown out (before dawn) to various cities that have big distribution centers to take them from there.

Most likely,  UPS uses Louisville as a similar hub.
