Dear All,

the SOCI package has been officially approved for inclusion in Fedora and
CentOS (RedHat clone). The release #13 of that package should find its way
to the official repositories and mirrors in a few days. In the meantime, you
can download the RPMs from here:
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=260224&package_id=320946&release_id=684618
.

For those of you who want an easy way to install, re-install, un-install it,
you can use the "extras-soci" tar-ball (corresponding to the pristine
version 3.0.0 of SOCI, on top of which two patches have been applied for
ease of use in the GNU Autotools environment), located on SourceForge:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/extras-soci/extras-soci-3.0.0-13.tar.bz2and
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/extras-soci/extras-soci-3.0.0-13.tar.gz.
(the soci.m4 macro file, delivered in /usr/share/aclocal, should allow for
easy integration in your projects)

If any of you find that (other way of) packaging useful, I shall work with
Mateusz to see whether it can be merged on the Git repository.

Best Regards

Yes! Of course.

I am always working as root but I still cannot overwrite
the `libsoci_core-3.so' file and the only way to install fully is by
removing the file manually.
