I tried the same thing using postgresql, where it doesn't work - it gave me an (apparently) server side error mentioning that the prepared statement doesn't exist. I might have to switch to some other DBMS some time, so i've built a few functions to address this problem in my application. But i was wondering if it would be possible to provide this functionality, independent of what the backend provides, in a future version of soci itself?
