Neil, Basically, with this survey I'm trying to find out if Boost as SOCI dependency is a hassle for users and what users would say if more Boost libraries are used in SOCI. Regarding ODBC backend I'm helpless at this moment, though it's interesting. I'm quite busy with some development near PostgreSQL and Oracle. So, unfortunately, I haven't looked into the ODBC driver myself for a while. I believe patches would be greatly appreciated, however I'm not sure about changing general SOCI semantic of into/use bindings, procedure vs statement, etc. There must be a line of commonalities drawn somewhere, otherwise it will be easier to have N separate SOCIs specific for DBMS :) 2 cents.
