ok, i reinstalled with grub-legacy and all works. my immediate problem is resolved. but... but i wish i can use grub2 to remain with supported packages (i expect grub-legacy will be dropped anytime soon) to the question remains.... any ideas to assembre a coherent bug report to grub2 maintainers= i hate to open a bug with only "it hangs" and being unable to give details.
