As far as I know tx files are the domain of renderman and arnold - MR uses .map
to do the same thing.

Subject: mentalray, exr vs map

Hi All,

I'm not even sure I dare to ask. Would exr files works just as well as map
files when rendering with mental ray? It would be pretty awesome if I could use
the same textures that I generate with maketx to also be used in mental ray. I
don't have anything to test right now, so I thought I would shoot the question
out there.

just a thought...

regards
stefan
