2.0 is definitely the version i need to be running. everyone else is running that version to connect to the server with no problems. thanks for the help.

When you refer to an older server version, what version is it? Generally speaking, if you are running a 2.0 server you should use a 2.0 client to connect to it. A 2.1 server needs a 2.1 client and so on. I ask because I'm running a really, really old server version, 1.3, so I'm limited to using a 1.3 client to connect to it.
