If you've got a default directory set for the directory in question, it should start you off in the appropriate local directory. However, if there is no local file, this seems to trip SJ up. In other words, the file you're trying to diff only exists in the archive. There's no local copy. The file name should be in blue bold-ital if you're using SJ 2.0 or later.
