Hi,

Im quite new with openbsd. slowly getting to grips with it.

I've two problems. The first is a regular connection problem i've seen people
on the list discuss.

I've a Pentium 120 with 32meg that i want to turn into a router, with no keyboard,
mouse or
monitor. I've installed openbsd 3.1 on and have followed the instructions for
installing
the alcatel management .o library and the speedtouch software (1.1), which went
well.

Ill state my second problem first ;) Most people wont read till the end of my
post I gather :)

My second problem occurs when I start my box witht modem connected. It goes
into a panic
when the ohci section starts, printing the error: "ohci_intr: ignored interrupt
while polling"
over and over, seemingly stuck in an endless loop. If i do not connect the modem
and wait until
the usb hub is registered all is well, the modem is recognised. Has anyone seen
this bug? It
makes my plans for a openbsd router seem quite dead.

The other problem is that I cannot connect using the instructions given with
the software.
I can't connect when using ppp -background, and I try ppp -ddial, ifconfig -a
reports that tun0
is up but about a minute after this system locks up!

>From what I can see in my logs the modem is recognised and is ready, as shown
below.

I've had a look through the archives and noticed similar problems. I tried using
-ddial and this seems to work.
The last message I get is the line from above:

Aug 13 21:42:47 bsdserver pppoa2[5811]: I'm the children process, I handle the
endpoint 0x87

When I tried using lynx addresses couldn't be resolved but ifconfig -a reported
that tun0 was up. Its difficult
to do further analysis since using -ddial seems to prompt a system lock up minutes
after using it! If i try pinging
the dns servers i specified in resolv.conf i get the error 'No route to host'
which does look
like the 'add default HISADDR' isn't quite working... certainly that 'add route
failed' warning *always* crops up.

Can anyone see some obvious things im missing?

Many thanks,

Paul
