The installation of modem ST330 is quite not easy, I tried a lot of
solutions but now it works ...

I use Debian 3.0 but I don't think there could be a difference beetween
Mandk, RH, Debian and SuSE ...

Alcatel doesn't provide any driver for ST330, but says it can run under
Linux :o)

Personnaly, I use speedtouch-CVS_19_11_2002.tar.gz and st330.patch

All right too ...

Hum, are you sure your ppp-config files are ok ?

I give you my /etc/ppp/peers/adsl :

debug
kdebug 1
noipdefault
defaultroute
pty "/usr/local/sbin/pppoa3 -m 1 -e 1 -c -vpi 8 -vci 35"
sync
user "fti/xxxxxxx"
noauth
noaccomp
nopcomp
noccp
novj
holdoff 4
persist
maxfail 25
usepeerdns

Be sure to have option "-e 1" with pppoa3, and that your user name is
xxxxxxx and not xxxxxxx@fti (I'm not sure of that ...).

Be sure to have

# client server secret IP addresses
fti/xxxxxxx * yyyyyyy *

in your /etc/ppp/chap-secret.

Olivier
