a trial run of a guided tour by the Baia Association for Tours of the Phelgrean
Area has been organized to tour two of the Baia area's famous historic
waterworks from the Roman era.The Piscina Mirabilis is a huge three million
gallon fresh water reservoir that served the Roman fleets home ported at nearby
Cape Miseno. The gigantic fleet water reservoir was fed by the Claudius
aquedect.The Cento Camarelle, or "one hundred little rooms" cistern supplied an
enormous and elaborate villa built for Quintus Hortensius Ortalus (11450
b.c).The cisterns overlook the bay and are dug into the tuff sandstone and form
