I had an Icom IC-R20 for a few years. Still have it but about to put it up for sale. As a portable it is very nice but a bit prone to front end overloading in larger cities. This can be abated somewhat with AM and FM broadcast band filters. I sold off my AOR AR-DV1 recently and picked up an Icom IC-R30. It is now my vacation and do it all monitoring receiver. Does fairly well with SW (numbers stations are in that range obviously) as well as aircraft bands and a ton of other stuff. I can even pick up the Brazilian SatCom pirates directly off the satellites while using the whip antenna and nothing more. I can recommend it if you want to look for that type of receiver. Otherwise look for a nice used R20 or just a SW portable. Skywave SSB, Tecsun PL-660 or PL-880 are all nice as well, and not very much. My suggestions. YMMV. Sean Spell checked by the NSA.
