Queensland University of Technology (Brisbane, Australia) has a number of positions and competitive scholarships available to investigate the physiological and cognitive responses of individuals wearing bomb suits and chemical protective clothing. The project will bring together exercise physiologists, dietitians and motor control specialists in a multi-disciplinary approach to addressing heat strain and recovery.
The research is being funded bilaterally by the Dept of Defense (USA) and the Prime Minister and Cabinet's Office (Aust). The positions are located within the School of Human Movement Studies and the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI) and thus the successful applicants will hold membership of the Institute for the duration of the project. The facilities of the School and IHBI comprise state-of-the-art exercise and environmental laboratories. Postdoctoral position The postdoctoral position applicant should have experience in a range of exercise and thermal physiology assessment techniques and some experience in cognitive measurements would be desirable. Areas of potential study include exercise/thermal physiology, recovery both from a nutritional and physiological aspect, and the influence of heat strain on cognitive performance.
