I think he has concluded that it will be too slow without having tried it. I have a 43 Gigabyte (sic) database, a collection of English texts, which I search using a combination of indexes and LIKEs. It's rare to have to wait more then 5 seconds for a set of results. I set up a few indexes by guesswork and added a couple more when I found which common searches took the longest times. Simon.
