No. Only in "interactive" foreground mode.In daemon mode stdout is sent to the bitbucket (/dev/null). Only exception is errors during the early startup before becoming a daemon.
If is, then printf("\a"); works. I can'nt imagine reason why it works in OS/2 and Win and does not work in unixes.
In the windows port "stdout" of the Squid service is sent to a file.. Regards Henrik
