Steve, It's my experience that Accucraft always builds more than the number pre-ordered, at least with the US prototypes. Maybe Cliff could answer your question if you contacted him directly.
We'll be going to see the Custom Model Products Harriman cars at their open house in May. By then I should have the Finescale Harriman Combine and Baggage car I ordered for comparison. I ordered them last June, so they certainly aren't a quick build! They also cost twice what the CMP cars are being priced at. Of course, the Finescale cars are brass and the CMP cars are resin.
