Not much is coming in from the mainline, any more.
So, if we add 'features', there would be no conflicts to speak of.
I was thinking of keeping it 2.7, much as we are officially using 2.7.sumthin 
here internally to CCP but it is loaded with tweaks and add-ons.  Improvements, 
I call them :)
