Ok, I have a proposed patch in a branch on https://bitbucket.org/krisvale/stackless-scratch
The idea is to move the flags from the PyTypeObject into the PyMappingMethods structure, which is unlikely to be extended by third party apps. This runs the stackless testsuite.
