Founding member, Green Party of Nepal
       on
The Political Crisis in Nepal and the possibility for a Democratic Future
Wednesday April 27 at 5pm
in Carnegie 06
Macalester College StPaul

The political crisis in Nepal has reached a critical stage since King
Gyanendra declared a state of emergency, imprisoned political leaders,
clamped down on print and news media, and shut down activities of human
rights and other civic organizations. In this turbulent context, a
notable populist leader, Mr. Maitalal Gurung, has launched an
international campaign for peace and democracy in Nepal, based on
principles of nonviolence, social justice, and community based resource
management. The campaign has brought Mr. Gurung to the United States.
Mr. Gurung will assess the current political crisis in Nepal and discuss
the Nepal Green Party's vision for Nepal's democratic future.
