Using Qt+GTK sounds platform independent, yes, but Sugar is not platform independent anyway, it is tied to Linux+Python+DBus+GTK, and from a Sugar point of view requiring Qt (isn't Qt+GTK a GTK wrapper around Qt?) is bloat. I only skimmed that page (my strength is in software packaging, not in developing software) but it seems you do not talk about Qt there, only PyGTK.
