I was hoping that some expert would
comment.

I am slightly puzzled...

  Why is the photograph oriented the
  way it is?

  Did the writer think this was a
  horizontal sundial?

  Did the writer think this was an
  equatorial sundial?

Turn the photograph upside down and
you have a moderately standard unequal
hours dial.  The half-hour dots are
an interesting extra.

Can someone do a compare-and-contrast
with other ancient Egyptian dials?
