Adam, 1. You can try to get our kubuntu 12.04 live dvd image from here<http://community.elphel.com/files/live-dvd/> (kubuntu-elphel-4.iso). It has all the needed packages installed, except for Xilinx ISE WebPack.
2. To examine the fpga project you just need ISE WebPack (10.1sp3). You could try newer versions of webpack - create a new project and add files that you got from our CVS repository.
