Longer chain alcohols seem to raise the winter properties of 
biodiesel: Ethyl esters are better than methyl, propyl even better,

Isoprop (rubbing alcohol) is roughly the same as methanol. Ethanol is 
one of the most expensive alcohols, well, at least where I live.

Acid based reactions work with all alcohols, base catalyzed reactions 
seem to be picky.
