Vapor carburetors were a popular item 25 or more years ago. Stratified
charge technology pretty much eliminated any advantage they possessed. The
best one I saw was Japanese. Had a ferrite heating block under the
carburetor and the curie point for the material was around 125F. The
resistance rose very quickly after that so there was zero chance the heater
could get stuck on like a thermostatic controlled job could and cause a
fire. Very clever.
The actual vaporization was done by an ultrasonic transducer and didn't
require the complexity of this design shown at the website.
Do you need one? The test is this> The amount of unburned hydrocarbons in
your engine is what we are going to get 100+mpg from. Vaporization is to
enable complete burning. You do the math. Is that much unburned fuel coming
from your engine? I didn't think so.
