<x-charset ISO-8859-1>Myke, The stuff is the same. If you count the Hs, Cs, and Os, you will find that they are the same.
Some chemists like to write CH3OH to point out the alcohol group (OH). Others use the slightly shorter formula. In the US, chemistry students are taught the former.
