excuse is that I must have had a "brain burp" which caused me to not pay attention to what I thought I was doing!
My apologies!!!!!!!!!!

John,

You're confusing the "60" that was printed in my response as miles per gallon, not miles per hour as stated. It reflected the achievement of 52 mpg when running 60 mph.

You also substantiate that your TDI has a lifetime fuel economy of 46 mpg. That matches its sticker. The truth for your TDI is exactly what the sticker stated. Are you saying, as AAA suggests, that the fuel economy sticker should reflect a different truth than the truth?

I suppose it should be mentioned the 50-52 mpg includes using synthetic oil, which can give a boost of several percent fuel economy. That's not taken into consideration in sticker fuel economy ratings. It also didn't incorporate turbos. They have a place, but we've always steered away from them in passenger vehicles. The purpose of a passenger vehicle is to get its human cargo from point A to point B. A well maintained non-turbo does just that, keeping the wallet better healed in the process.
